Pearson PASeries Listed in California Learning Resources Network's Electronic Learning Assessment Resources

Formative Assessment Product Line’s Mathematics Assessments Aligned to California Content Standard

IOWA CITY, Iowa – May 24, 2006 –Pearson Education announced today that its PASeries™ (Progress Assessment Series™) formative assessment product line is now listed in the California Learning Resource Network’s Electronic Learning Assessment Resources (ELAR) for educators and administrators. In addition, PASeries Mathematics is aligned to the California Content Standards for mathematics. PASeries is the first formative assessment product line designed to forecast student growth toward state performance standards.

Developed to provide educators with better ways to measure student progress and tie assessment to classroom instruction, PASeries assessments are scientifically valid, reliable and research-based progress tests. PASeries tests are designed for completion in one class period and for delivery either on paper or online with quick electronic reporting of results.

“With the screener, progress and diagnostic tests in PASeries, teachers can map standards-based instruction to learning needs and keep students on track for performing well on end-of-year tests,” said Doug Kubach, president, Pearson Educational Measurement, developer of PASeries.

The first two products in the line, PASeries Reading and PASeries Mathematics, launched in September 2004, were joined by PASeries Writing and PASeries Algebra I in early 2006. During the 2005-2006 school year, the progress of more than 130,000 students in more than 200 school districts nationwide will be evaluated with PASeries formative assessments.

PASeries is distributed to states and districts by Pearson Educational Measurement and Pearson Assessments. For more information about the PASeries product line, visit www.PearsonPASeries.com.
